Exposition | New York

We are delighted to return to New York for an exhibition at the Amélie Maison d'Art gallery. For this occasion, we have conceived a new scenography centered around a washi installation. This subtle interplay of transparency invites viewers to explore the shifting shadows, light, and textures reminiscent of the transformations of ice.

A monumental artistic immersion in the heart of New York's winter by Amélie du Chalard
Curated by Alban Roger - December 6, 2024 - January 11, 2025

New York – Having established a presence on New York's art scene with the recent opening of her gallery, Amélie du Chalard takes a bold new step with Les Alpes, a monumental immersive installation created in collaboration with curator Alban Roger and the heritage house Atelier d'Offard. This vast in-situ setting will take over the gallery space, with the artworks of the featured artists adorning its interior like shimmering ice crystals.

This exhibition delves into the essence of winter through an ice cave scenography crafted by Atelier d'Offard, housing the works of six artists inspired by natural elements. Visitors are invited into a dreamlike world where art and the winter landscape engage in a harmonious dialogue.

Winter: a season of contrasts and inspiration

"With Les Alpes, we aim to offer an immersive experience that transcends mere observation of the artworks. This exhibition is an invitation to slow down, to be captivated by the contrasts and the quiet beauty of winter."
— Amélie du Chalard, founder of the gallery
"Winter has always had a profound resonance for me – from my formative years in the French Alps to my current life in New York, where this season remains my favorite.
New York winters are a true paradox: sharp, biting air, ominous snowstorms that seem to bring the city to a halt, and yet, beneath luminous skies, the frenetic pace of New York never wavers. I admire the resilience and grace with which New Yorkers face this season, transforming it into a stage where culture, encounters, and understated beauty come together."

— Alban Roger, curator of the exhibition

In collaboration with Atelier d'Offard, a renowned French heritage house specializing in artistic wallpapers, the installation reimagines historical paper craftsmanship through a contemporary lens. Paper becomes a living material, embodying the duality of winter: strength and fragility, transparency and opacity.
